Educating Lives Historically

Teaching history to elementary school students is strategic and imperative. History is a broad content with many topics and consists of a time line of events. It is important to figure out which topics are most effective when planning in your own classroom. Dates, and names of people are extremely important in History.

  • Focus on big ideas
  • Investigate historical patterns
  • Discover themes
  • Use the textbook to refer
  • Relate to historical resources
  • Have a map in your classroom
  • Create a timeline of events as they are taught
  • Include visuals within your lesson

  1. I really enjoyed reading this blog about teaching history! History was always so boring for me, but if the teacher brings in these main ideas, the students will be able to grasp the subject. Having a map, visuals and timelines can make exploring your topic more interesting and engaging! It's very important to engage your students with what your teaching. Overall, your blog was really interesting to read and informative!
